Objective
The existing supply chain dashboard was not meeting the needs of its users due to it's overwhelming, bloated, and non-user-friendly design. Users are experiencing challenges in accessing and processing the vast amount of data and information presented on the dashboard, leading to increased frustration and inefficiency. The current design does not consider the users' goals or workflows, resulting in difficulty in performing essential tasks and identifying critical information quickly.
Challenge
Since Johnson & Johnson is such a large company, there was many stakeholders involved in this process. This created three challenges:
Many of the stakeholders did not agree with each other
The stakeholders did not have a solid understanding of their employees daily workflow (the people who actually need the dashboard in their day-to-day)
Majority of the stakeholders were too busy to dedicate much time to this, so getting feedback was challenging
Solution
The new design simplifies the dashboard's interface, reduces its complexity, and makes it more intuitive, user-friendly, and accessible to meet the needs of users which in turn improves their experience, and increases their efficiency.
To manage the stakeholders:
We ran user experiments to test conflicting stakeholder opinions
I spoke to several employees who used this dashboard on a daily basis and synthesized their feedback to show to the stakeholders to give them a better understanding of what was actually necessary
I communicated mostly async with video recordings (Looms) so that the stakeholders could watch on their own time and respond with their thoughts
All employees reimplemented the new dashboard into their daily workflows.
What I inherited
The existing dashboard was outdated and difficult to use

Goals & metrics for success
Optimize the data
Optimize the data visualization to be easily scannable / digested
Reduce friction
Decrease the amount of time it takes for a user to find their data
Reintroduce to workflow
Improve enough so that managers are incorporating it back into their day-to-day workflows
Addressing the Root Issue: Navigation
The biggest issue was the Dashboard's navigation. So I started there. I restructured the Information Architecture and introduced a story-telling paradigm for the data.
Improved navigation led to better data display & lighter code
Instead of endless open tabs like the current dashboard, this design features 4 clickable tabs that show you exactly where you are in the data. You can drill down from each Navigation item. This solution was also much lighter from a tech-debt perspective.
Defining a clear entry point
The current Dashboard did not have a clear entry point. It remembered the previous page you were on, which tabs were open, and displayed that information when you opened the app.
The new design features an easy entry point page that users can resort to when they want to restart their search for different data journeys.
*Note: Due to an NDA, I can only show example products and example descriptions

Multiple Rounds of Iterating
This project was a great example of how important iteration is in design. There were at least 6 rounds of iterations before the stakeholders considered the design to be in an MVP stage.
Mini-Design System for cohesive data display & future designs
"Alyssa is terrific to work with, friendly, and skilled in multiple areas of UX design and prototype development. It was a pleasure to work with her. She was able to meet aggressive deadlines and complete high-quality work on time."
